Chemical Farming & The Loss of Human Health

Between 1982 and 2000, a significant environmental shift occurred, profoundly impacting the immune system's ability to safeguard our health. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, a surge in diseases affecting various organ systems emerged—autism in children, Alzheimer's in women, and Parkinson's in men. Dr. Bush asserts that the root cause lies in changes to the soil resulting from shifts in farming practices.

Initially, the disregard for crop rotation and soil rest, coupled with the neglect of cover cropping, led to the widespread depletion of topsoil. Following World War II, a surplus of petroleum became available, and the extraction of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from it paved the way for the production of chemical fertilizers. While these fertilizers promoted lush green plant growth, they lacked essential nutrients. Similar to humans lacking proper nutrients, plants became susceptible to viruses, pests, and weeds.

To address the issues caused by chemical fertilizers, chemical pesticides and weed killers were introduced. Notably, Glyphosate, known as Round Up, disrupted plants' ability to produce essential amino acids crucial for human health. Moreover, this chemical permeated the soil, water systems, and the air through water evaporation.

Just as bacteria and fungi are vital to the health of the human gut, they play a crucial role in maintaining soil health. Glyphosate, however, appeared to increase the permeability of various membranes in the body, including the gut, blood vessels, and blood-brain barrier, leading to conditions like leaky gut and an overwhelmed immune system.

The consequences have been profound—a surge in neurologic injuries, neurodegenerative conditions, and autoimmune diseases. Glyphosate's infiltration into our food chain has not only disrupted the natural medicinal qualities of our food but has also contributed to a pervasive health crisis.
